Puppy Terrible Two's!
i dread wednesdays. that's the night my hubby works late and doesn't get home till after 8, which means i'm the one dealing with the dog all day. normally not a huge deal, except he seems to have hit his terrible twos! we were taking kiko, our pup, to puppy kindergarten, and he was really picking up on things! the last week of class he got fixed so we had to limit his walks and in just that week alone he seems to have forgotten everything he learned!! needless to say, walking him can be a workout! the rescue we got him from said that his dad was a 100lb english lab and his mom was a large retriever...therefore, the potential for our puppy to be 100lbs is pretty high (although they seemed to have tricked us with the whole lab/retriever mix because i think we got a lab/border collie mix instead so i'm hoping maybe they'll be wrong about his size!) kiko is already 40lbs and walking ME! i'm not sure what i'm going to do when he gets to be my size!! our night walks are a lot longer. my husband usually has control of him which lets me really enjoy the walk. during the morning and lunchtime walks i'm being pulled left and right and it drains me more than relaxes me! so tonight...worst walk EVER! the wind whipping through me didn't help! i only lasted about 30min on that walk before i dragged the dog back to the house! by the time we got back my legs had that prickly, freezing feeling to them and my cheeks felt like they were bleeding they were so windburned! kiko pulled, dragged, ran, and jumped the whole entire way...oh but as soon as we turned into the neighborhood, his head was up, and he was prancing like he was a show dog! why can't he walk like that ALL THE TIME?!!
and you know what else gets me?! when he jumps up on everything!! lately he's been jumping onto the kitchen counters. DRIVES ME NUTS. especially when i'm cooking! oy can't stand it. the one thing i'm so proud of is the fact that he doesn't bark! we have some neighbors ( well, a LOT of neighbors) who have dogs that they leave out in the backyard and these dogs are CONSTANTLY barking. at 6:30 am and midnight...not what i want to hear! when my hubby and i take kiko for a walk and the other dogs are out, they get hysterical, and kiko just walks on by them. doesn't bark back or anything! i will say....that, i love!
i want this sweet little pup back!
this one that keeps jumping up on everything...i think needs to get sent back to puppy school!
Easy to make dog leash
i always thought it was crazy how much people spent on their animals...until i became a puppy owner a few months back! we are on our second dog bed (we've only had our puppy for four months!) and probably five zillion dog toys!! for Christmas our pup got a ton of toys; some of which only lasted a day! but like my husband says, better him chewing on those than our furniture!!
so i came across an idea and started making a few dog leashes...i mean, we coordinate our purses to our outfits or mood, so why not accessorize our pups as well, even if i am just walking him out back! some of the blogs listed really fancy ways to make leashes, but i of course, strapped for time chose an easy way! (and a way that if my pup chewed it up i wouldn't get upset that all my hard work would be for nothing!) i was lucky enough to find nylon that was already packaged (there was no way i was going to stand in a mile long line at the cutting counter just for a few yards of nylon strapping...i'm sure i could've found some fabric to purchase as well, but with it being my second trip to the fabric store this week, that would be a little to much wouldn't it?) and found some fun ribbon on sale (even better!), and some swivel clips. when i got home i just took one look at my old leash, started lining up my ribbon in the middle of the nylon strapping, sewed straight down on both sides, and sewed a zillion times on the folded over parts where the swivel clip was and where i wanted the leash to be a handle, and voila- i was done! soooo...now my puppy has some fun leashes and my husband thinks i have too much time on my hands!
