Updated Patio Cushions

Last year we finally put a patio in our backyard (along with redoing the landscaping!) We had bought some furniture from World Market, and wouldn't you know, we never even got around to actually USING the set last year! Mainly because the cushions the set came with were white. This year, since B is old enough to enjoy playing outside, I decided I really needed to get on re-covering the cushions into a more practical fabric so that we could hang out back more.

I know sometimes I always tell people that it's cheaper to just buy something than make it, but that ended up not being the case! The patio furniture isn't the normal size that most come in. It's a lot smaller, so I knew finding something else pre-made  that would fit would be more difficult. I ended up scoping out sales on outdoor fabric from Jo-anns, but unfortunately, the time that I had completely free from any kind of sewing, the deal on fabric wasn't that great! (Even on sale, the fabric would've been about $15 a yard, and I wanted to buy at least 4 yards just to be on the safe side! The idea of spending $60 on fabric that was going to sit outside and go through all sorts of weather didn't quite appeal to me!) I decided to run into Hancock's one day and wouldn't you know they had a ton of upholstery fabric on red tag PLUS an additional half off! I ended up grabbing this Dwell Studio fabric for only $7.50 a yard! Definitely made the cost easier to swallow! The cushions themselves were really easy to recover and didn't take more than a couple hours! They have a kind of envelope closure underneath, so that the cushions can be easily removed if I need to wash the cover! I have to say, I really love the new look of it!
