I'm back!

well, i'm back! i didn't take much of a hiatus as i thought i would (i wasn't planning on returning till at least after August, when we got back from our family trip) but, turns out that keeping busy is what i needed so i have lots to share!
in case you hadn't noticed in previous entries, my blog had been kind of on the back burner for a while. my entries got shorter and shorter, and a lot less personal. but i had lots of reasons as to why it wasn't a top priority. unfortunately, those reasons are non-existent now, and to keep it simple my husband and i recently suffered a loss that we are still trying cope with.
taking the hiatus was probably a bit premature. i thought that sewing would be the furthest thing from my mind, but somehow it was therapeutic. i've thrown myself into sewing the last several weeks (i probably bought more these two weeks than i did last month alone!!) and am working on a few new items for the shop (children's clothing!) i think when i told everyone i was going on a hiatus it sent some people into a panic, because i actually got more orders that week i wrote that post than i had in the last several months, not to mention traffic on my website increased dramatically!! (gosh, it's nice to feel loved but my intent was not to ever close down, just take a break!) i've had several inquiries about whether or not i will be holding another purse party, and, YES i do plan on having a holiday one (tentatively scheduled for the first weekend in December). i am hoping to have a ton of bags and baby gifts for sale as well as clothing/accessory items for both kids and adults. i realize i might be getting ahead of myself, but for now, that is my goal!!
so, some new things that i've listed in the shop in case you haven't seen it lately!

i added another children's activity tote. i had some comments and had a peak in searches for that on my site, so i thought i'd add at least one more to the shop since the previous ones had been sold already! it's made with a super cute bird fabric (i know, i can't get enough of the birds!!) and has a sage polka dot contrasting fabric. i think it's safe to say it's a unisex item- i'm trying really hard to add unisex items to the shop, especially in baby gear, because that seems to be a common trend these days-i know of a handful of new parent's-to-be who are not finding out the sex of their baby! this bag is perfect for toting drawing pads and coloring books and has enough slots in the front that are large enough to hold markers, crayons, or pencils. there is also an interior pocket- always essential because i know how much kids like hiding and stashing things!!!

also in the shop is a boys' onesie gift set. it includes a onesie that has a "chick magnet" iron on and also has a fabric decorated burp cloth. it makes a great add-on to any baby gift!

another new item i made was this craft caddy. it's made with Barnslig fabric from Ikea, which i love! tell me what you think! any input would be nice!! this is not listed in the shop but if enough people show interest i might list one or two! i made this for my niece and nephews to stash their crayons and markers in. i think it's a bit taller than i'd like, but i'm still figuring out what the best design would be.
so, that's about it for now...gotta save some more goodies for later posts! and if you haven't noticed-how do you like the new website?!! i was definitely really tired of the old design and had actually picked an image a LONG time ago!! my original intent was to have a new design up back in February! (yeah, i'm a bit behind!!) because i wanted to do it around my blogaversary- guess that didn't work! but in any event, during my hiatus i got on my husband to re-do my site! so... yeahhh for hubby! :)

Personalized Baby Shower Gifts

i think i've just recently handed out my last baby shower gift! (my husband and i knew 9 pregnant couples at one point, so i'm relieved to be done with all that!)

i thought this little iron-on was really cute for a onesie and decided to pair it with a coordinating burp cloth.

the gift also included  a Birdie Sling, sensory blanket, a minky and flannel blanket, and a 2 pack of chenille and flannel burp cloths.
