Fabric Withdrawal

being away for the weekend meant that i didn't get to work on any projects so i think i definitely was going through fabric withdrawals! i just received an order from fabric.com (FINALLY got some Amy Butler fabrics!) and also had a few other orders that a friend made for some chenille baby blankets so i decided to run to joann fabrics today to grab a few more things (not that i really needed to, but it has been nearly a week!)

can't wait to get started!!

Fabric trimmed washcloths

because of all the ice yesterday i actually stayed home and got a lot accomplished! i've almost finished the amy butler portfolio, and i've also figured out what to do with this towel that i had originally embroidered for my friend, only to realize that i embroidered the wrong company name on it when i was about to give it to her! i decided to cut the white towel up into smaller squares (10x10) and decorate the trims with fabric and ribbon scraps that i had leftover from other projects. when i first was decorating with the ribbon i thought it would be easier to cut the ribbon into strips for each side, but when it came time to folding the sides down it would fray at the edges a little bit and my husband suggested instead if cutting each piece to the length of the side, just do one long, continuous piece and fold over the corners that way. he's so smart. the second one i did turned out MUCH better! i only made two washcloths to start out with, but i still have lots of pieces of the towel leftover, and i'm thinking of turning some of those pieces of the towel into the backings of some bibs! i'm keeping myself busy making all sorts of fun stuff to add to my niece's collection!

Crazy Crazy!

well...things have been super crazy on my part! my sister had her baby...a little earlier than we could've expected! she went in for her gel procedure on thursday, and was supposed to be induced on friday. well, after i dropped her off at work on thursday for her to get a few things settled, i was called about two hours later to come get her. good thing i got there when i did! we got to the hospital within fifteen minutes and she was already fully dialated!!! as soon as she got into the delivery room, her water burst (thank god it wasn't in my car!!) and she delivered her baby in ten minutes!! so, i'm now the very proud aunt of a beautiful baby girl!!! i can't get enough of her!!!

here is a picture of the personalized burp pads that i made a while back. i couldn't post these sooner because she and her husband were keeping the name a secret, so i had to wait till she delivered before i could post the pics! the burp cloths so far my favorite items to make!
