Some new children’s sets in the shop!

since all the baby showers are starting back up again, i decided to add some more sets to the shop!

this first one is my favorite! as soon as i saw this monster flannel print, i knew i had to get it! (i love the whole Ugly Doll theme, so this was perfect!)

since some people like to have items shipped directly to the recipient, i decided to make one set that was packaged and ready to open as a gift! everything comes tucked inside a metal paint tin that's been decorated with some coordinating scrapbook paper (and sealed with mod podged). this set includes one baby blanket, a bib and burp cloth, and also an appliqued onesie!

this next set is a smaller feeding set made with Alexander Henry's Juicy fabric. it includes one burp cloth and two bibs.

and since i decided to clean my studio up, i found some earlier children's gifts that never made it to the shop! these are now in the clearance section!

this owl play mat is really cute, and a lot larger than i had planned to make it! it makes a great outdoor mat too!
and who can resist a cute little monkey blanket?

Japanese imports

for the longest time i'd been wanting to order some Japanese fabrics...of course, i'm a bit on the conservative side when it comes to spending money on things i don't really need, so my rational side always won and i'd close whatever Etsy window i was browsing and forget about it. then, i got an email from one of my cousins out in California who was interested in a tote bag made out of some Hello Kitty fabric, and it gave me the perfect reason to FINALLY be able to get some Japanese imports! i didn't need anything but the Hello Kitty fabric but decided i should treat myself to just a little something extra, and i found a fat quarter set of Little Red Riding Hood and Hansel and Gretel fabric that i thought would make some cute bibs and burp cloths. and as it so happened that when i was looking at these imported fabrics, another etsy shop was offering free shipping on their fabrics, so i was able to get another cute little fat quarter of blue bears!

(you'll have to click on the picture to get the full view of the fabrics. the top  print with the bears was purchased from this Etsy shop, and the bottom three character prints were purchased here- yikes, looks like they are having a sale- this could mean more trouble!)

Longing for spring…

is anyone else ready for spring?!  i definitely am! this weekend has been a bit of a teaser- nearing 60 degrees, i busted out my capris today!!  (i'm sure this won't stick around...the forecast is calling for rain at the end of the week! bummer!)

in the meantime, aside from dreaming of vacations and weekend getaways,  i guess the only other thing for me to do is get some springy type bags made!! so...i figured it was time to put some fun floral prints i had to use!!

i made a couple more multi-tasker totes by Anna Maria Horner! since i made the last one, i knew exactly the color combination i wanted as my next one! i love Heather Bailey's Freshcut line and thought the peach mums would look really good with the sage polka dot interior!

and of course, how much do i love a nice paisley print! and some more green polka dot for contrast!

and the most fun spring print that i always get such rave reviews about is the pink dahlia print from Sandi Henderson's Farmer's Market collection. since i had a bit left, i thought it would make a fun tote bag- this time i used some heavy weight cotton webbing for the straps and added a small rounded pocket in the front. this is a fairly good sized tote and will actually work great as a reusable tote bag for shopping! (beats those ones you get at the store that i'm still not quite sure what that material is called!) this one is now available in the shop!

and last but not least...did i mention the stash of fabric i got in the mail out of the blue? well, imagine my surprise when i opened up a box from my cousin only to discover about 5 yards of fabric!! (aren't belated presents the best!) anyhoo...three of the prints were- you guessed it- bird prints!! yeahhhh! so i decided to make a pleated shoulder bag out of  Birdie by  Me & My Sisters Designs for Moda.  (if this doesn't scream spring, i don't know what will!)

Corduroy Coffee Cozies

last year i made a ton of coffee cozies to give away as little stocking stuffers inside some of my gifts- i even had some listed in the shop, but had NO interest at all whatsoever! i was actually quite surprised! THEN this year, i decided to make just a few (about 10) at my purse party back in November, thinking if i was lucky i'd get rid of about three! imagine my surprise when  EVERY SINGLE ONE of them sold! not to mention, afterwards,  i had MORE orders for them! WHO KNEW!!

i usually will only list sets of them (two or more...mainly because between listing/sale/and paypal fees, i don't see the point and listing only one and essentially making $1!)

so in any event, i did get around to making a few more sets over the weekend, and just listed a really cute corduroy set in the shop!

1655

(kinda worked out perfect the way it snowed all day saturday and had a more fun approach in taking picture for the listing!)

and in case you were interested, this was the last order of coffee cozies that i filled!

1658

i think they make great little gifts when you're looking for something small/extra to toss in! works perfectly when you just stick it on a disposable cup (the ones i have are Chinet, but i believe Dixie makes them too with the lids), and toss in a gift card or something!

i also decided to add another crayon roll!

1652

because i know there are some kids out there that are very girly, i made one with Pink Kleo! on sale for $12!

New Shop Listings

i know i haven't been around for a while, but just wanted to drop in with a few updates to my shop! also wanted to let you all know that i will NOT be taking any more custom orders for the remainder of the year! since i've been prepping for my party i've decided that once it is done, it'd be nice to take a break away from all the necessary sewing, so i can have some sew for ME time!!

first, here are two custom orders that i just finished up!

this Mocca gift set is one of my favorites! it was made for a baby shower gift, and i'm hoping the recipient liked it as much as i do!! the set includes a sensory blanket, a soft block with ribbons, an applique onesie, and a fabric decorated burp cloth.

1552

i also had a request for a Breast Cancer Awareness bag. this is another new design i've been working on. i had previously made a small tote bag that was solid white with the word "hope" appliqued on it, and thought it would look great in this new style! it's simple, but sends a powerful message at the same time!

1543

and now, for some newly listed items in the shop!

here's another Breast Cancer Awareness tote bag! when i first found this fabric i thought it was too cute to pass up! not your usual pink ribbon design- you know me, anything with birds and i have to have it!! this tote has a solid pink base and a decorative grosgrain ribbon dividing it from the main fabric. the interior is a pink and white gingham print that has the pink breast cancer ribbons on them, and it's large enough that you can stash not only your wallet, cell phone and keys, but magazines and books as well!

1540

i've also had a request for some drink cozies (everyone's jumping on the green wagon!) so i thought i'd make a few sets for the shop! these are great for holiday gift giving  or as stocking stuffers and come tucked inside reusable drawstring bags! one set is made out of Alexander Henry's Starling fabric (one in pink and the other in white), and the second set is made with some cute tree prints!!
