Last weekend hubby and I went to Toys R Us to buy a bunch of outside toys for B! Since he was too small last year to actually enjoy the backyard and patio area, we decided this year we'd get to buy all the fun stuff! Since he doesn't go to daycare, having a variety of things for him to play with will make our days more fun too! And because summer's here are extremely humid, we'll definitely be investing in a water table and a fun sprinkler too!
I had been seeing a bunch of pins on Pinterest for the bubble refilling station and thought that'd be a perfect addition to some outdoor activities! (Plus the fact that we got B a bubble blowing lawn mower toy that I'm sure will need to be filled often!) I had also grabbed some bubble wands and am hoping to add a bit more to the bubble fun, but seeing as B is only 14 months, I figure start with the basics! These refill stations are more than practical, especially if we are having a playdate, or our niece and nephews over!
I'm sure you can grab these drink dispensers for even cheaper at other places, but I got mine from Target for $5.99. It's a pretty thick plastic too, so I'm hoping that if it should fall off the table, it won't crack! Instead of a clear one, I opted for the stripes because I knew I wanted to embellish it with some vinyl and had the perfect coordinating color in mind! I went with orange because turquoise and orange is one of my favorite color combos! I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out "Let's Blow Bubbles" - I love how the word "BUBBLES" comes in a bubble itself! There are "recipes" online for making bubble solution (normally I buy the large bottles from the dollar section at stores and they seem to work just fine), but I came across this post that showed how to make the "world's best bubbles!" Might have to try that when we run out of what we bought!
World's Best Bubble Solution:
- 1 1/2 quarts water
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup
- 1 cup liquid dish soap
Mix all ingredients until blended
