Talk about scary…
i went back for my follow-up yesterday for my wisdom teeth extraction, and the doctor said i looked great! she was surprised at how good i looked because she thought for sure that i’d still be swollen since the procedure was more difficult than she had anticipated! i guess i just bounce back quickly! i told her that i had actually not even swelled up like i thought i would, and that if you didn’t know me, you’d never have known i even had surgery! i also told her that i stopped taking the vicodin and she was shocked because she thought she’d have to write me another prescription! she gave me the go-ahead to start back on regular foods, and of course i was ecstatic! (got myself some fried chicken that night!)
i have another appointment next month to take more x-rays and to determine whether or not we should operate again and get the remaining root of the tooth out.
i probably shouldn’t have gotten so ahead of myself because last night as i was rinsing my mouth out, blood came gushing out full force! i had no idea what was going on except that i couldnt stop it and at this point had started panicking and was on the verge of tears! there was no way i could get to my husband and at that point i couldnt even call for him because i was gagging on my own blood! finally, i was able to yell for him and when he ran upstairs the look on his face scared me even more!! we finally got to a point where we were able to stuff guaze in my mouth and started heading to the emergency room. (i had to replace the guaze several times on the ride) but wouldn’t you know, as soon as we got there, the blood had stopped gushing, so i had started clotting again! thank god! we just turned back around and went home (good thing the hospital is less than 10min away!) because we knew they’d only tell us to do what we were already doing! needless to say, i was glued to my husband’s side the rest of the night in case anything happened again! i swear, i had never seen so much blood before! when we got back home and looked at all the blood in the bathroom, it was pretty alarming that it had all come out of me!
UPDATE: because some of you had asked, i had gone back to the dentist the day after and the oral surgeon said that it looked like i ruptured the clot. so i have to take it easy and be more careful!
