Our First Anniversary!

August 25th, 2008 by natalie

today is me and abram’s first wedding anniversary!!! does that mean i’m not a newlywed anymore? not that it matters because we’ve been an old married couple for longer than a year! just kind’ve sad to lose the newlywed title though!

everyone’s always asking how we met…so i’ll indulge you with the story of us!

back in 2005 one of my good friends and i planned an anti-valentines day trip to Vegas! there were probably about a dozen of us on the trip, and her roommate, matt, at the time, invited his friend abram. abram was the one person on the trip who i’d never met before. even though we had several mutual friends in common, i’d never once heard about him! the first night in vegas we all sort of hung out seperately but the second night upon everyone meeting up at one of the bars in our hotel, we started talking and next thing you know it’s been over 24 hours since we’d been up and had been talking! we had our first date the following weekend when we returned home, and haven’t been apart since!

in early 2007 we bought our first house and both of us knew that we’d be getting married, we just hadn’t planned a timeline yet. we both knew we didn’t want anything extravagent and were perfectly content running off somewhere! (which to some people was such a shock, although i really don’t know why because i’m more low maintenance than people think!)  after i quit my job we decided that it would be perfect to have a summer wedding. the only problem was deciding on a place! it was between a Central Park wedding in NYC or a beach wedding in San Diego. the west coast won and we got married on Coronado Island.

we tried keeping it somewhat of a secret. both of our families and a handful of our friends knew. unfortunately on such short notice, our families already had their summer vacations planned so they weren’t able to make it, but two of my closest friends (who i’ve both known since middle school) were both able to fly out!

so that’s us! it’s been an incredible year, and hopefully more fun filled as our years go on together! we celebrated at Melting Pot Sunday night, and at our favorite sushi restaurant on Friday night. needless to say, i’m still stuffed! :)
