Pleated tote made with fabrics from Vietnam

July 11th, 2008 by natalie

in addition to the Kimberly bag that i sent out for my swap, i also included a pleated tote bag. the girl i was doing the swap with had mentioned how much she liked Japanese fabrics and i wanted to include a little something more in her package besides the Kimberly bag and thought how perfect it would be to make a bag from the fabrics that my mom brought back from Vietnam for me! this was the first time i even cut into the fabrics!! the purple print is one  of my favorites that my mom brought over for me! luckily she brought me two yards so i still have plenty! the inside lining is a cherry print. too cute!

on a totally different subject, has anyone tried the ramune drinks? my husband and i get sushi as much as we possibly can! everytime we go to this one restaurant all the kids are always drinking these little sodas and i always wondered if they were good. i was at World Market last week and saw them there (of course, probably more expensive than if i was to run to the asian store, but oh well!) i picked up two bottles just to try out. i got the regular flavor as well as lychee! (we all know how much i like lychees!) the interesting thing is there is a marble in the glass that in order to open the bottle you pop the marble down, and it sort of just hangs in the neck of the bottle. it’s easiest to just drink with a straw because the marble can stop the flow of the drink (and no you can’t choke on it, the marble stays in the bottle). since i’ve been counting calories and whatnot, i’ve been cutting back on soda big time. i try and only drink soda twice a week, but every  now and then i CRAVE something carbonated- especially when it’s so hot out! i think this drink is perfect because it is carbonated, and is only about 70 calories! i’ll definitely have to pick up more next time i run to the asian store!
