Chenille Baby Blankets

one of my old co-workers had emailed me asking for an order for some baby blankets. i told her i would loooove to make her some and gave her some suggestions as to what kind i think she'd like. she ended up choosing a blanket made of chenille on one side and cotton on the other. she also said she'd like for them to be personalized, as she wanted one for herself and another for her brother-in-law who just had a baby boy.

for the boy's blanket i chose a brown and blue polka dot print, with baby blue chenille. and for the personalization i had a small message embroidered on brown fabric, which was embellished with some leftover striped blue print that i had (which i unfortunately cannot find anymore!).

for her baby girl's blanket i decided to use one of my favorite prints that i've found at the local fabric store that i kept seeing on etsy but had a hard time finding myself! i'm glad i got a few yards of it, because it is now sold out again at the local joann's fabric! i personalized her message on some pink polka dot print, and also cut out some of the large flower print from some remnants i had and stitched them around the message. on the front side of the blanket, i had some cute fabric ribbon that said "hugs and kisses" that i thought would be cute to add to the blanket!

there are more pictures posted in the gallery. both blankets have a light batting to them, and i made them somewhat larger than most blankets at around 34 x 42inches. i figured this way the kids would be able to use them for a while!
