Rubber Stamping

May 11th, 2008 by natalie

i had been noticing how many cute hand carved stamps there were on etsy that i thought, well, this could be easy! and wouldn’t you know that when i was checking out the artsy crafty babe blog i noticed under her tutorials she wanted to try was one for rubber stamping! the rubber stamping tutorial was really easy to understand and i was able to find everything i needed at a.c. moore. the printing blocks were around $6 so i knew if i messed up it wouldn’t be too bad if i had to buy a whole new one and start over!

the block i had was 4 x 6 inches, so i decided to start out with a smaller print of a boy skateboarding that i was going to give to my nephew who is BIG into all things skateboarding (thanks to his other super-cool aunt!) i thought it would be cute to have his name on it too…but of course as i was carving i realized this was a lot harder and more tedious than it looked and nixed the idea of his name altogether! and i’m not even sure how i feel about the boy skateboarding since my sister said it looked like a girl, even though clearly to me it looks like he’s got shorts on! but who knows!

i also would like to eventually turn my Crafty Natalie banner into a stamp so that i could stamp my packages when i am shipping an order out, but for now i just tried the dragonfly! baby steps…
