Chenille Burp Cloths and Flannel Lined Bibs
i also ended up making my sister more burp cloths and bibs over the weekend. i was going through one of her baby catalogs and saw the chenille burp pads that i thought were very pretty, but of course too over priced! i think the company was selling the burp cloths with a matching bib for $30 or so...these are definitely easy enough that you could make a bunch load for that amount!
the burp cloth turned out really nice, as well as the bibs! the burp cloths are chenille on one side, and flannel on the other. the bibs are lined with flannel, and the opposite side is a fun cotton print. when i gave them to my sister she really liked them but thought they were too fancy and worried that they would get stained and whatnot. so i think when i make more i might buy the iron on vinyl so that the cotton side can be easily wiped and will have that stain resistance to them, and the other side can be for decorative wearing. i've never used the iron-on vinyl, so if anyone has any thoughts on this please let me know! i did have a pattern for something that recommended the vinyl, but i thought it would've made the project look cheap so i went without it, and i have to say that finished project turned out much better than i expected! (more on that project later!)

I love the bibs and burb cloths. Where did you get the pattern?

the patterns are super easy!
with the bib i folded a bib that i already had, in half. then all you have to do is put this on the fold of the fabric and trace along it.
the burp cloth i simply just drew a somewhat curved rectangle. the pattern is half the size of what you want it to be because again, you put it on the folded edge of the fabric so that it doubles in size when you cut it. if you want a contoured burp cloth you can make it sort of mushroom shaped. it’s nice when you have patterns that you put on the fold of the fabric because it makes for a perfectly symmetrical shape.
when you sew it just put the fabrics wrong side together and leave a little section so that you can flip them right side out. then you can press and sew the edges closed. i used a 1/4 inseam.
i hope that helps!!
