Fabrics From Vietnam
my parents just returned from a three week trip to Vietnam. they typically go twice a year, which is nice because i always send my mom with a list of things that i’d like! last fall i asked for some embroidered place mats, and earlier that year when my husband and i moved into our first house my mom brought back some hand carved figurines- a rooster for my husband and a set of monkeys for me (since those are our signs in the chinese zodiac).
from now on i think i’m going to ask for fabrics! my mom doesn’t really have the same style as me, but i did kind of give her guidelines…she didn’t quite follow them, but i did end up with a few decent fabrics! i had only asked for a few different patterns but she ended up bringing home TEN different prints! two yards of each! and the best part was with the exchange rate i think all that only cost about $20!!
these five are the only ones i think i’ll really use! i like the cherry print, and the purple print with the asian theme on it. it’s not the typical asian theme i would normally would buy, but i really like the little row boats with the people in them! i think next time i’ll ask for some kiddie prints!

How fun to have your very own importer!
