Key Fobs

March 29th, 2008 by natalie

i’d been seeing these key fobs all over Etsy and had been wanting to make a few. i think the hardest part was actually finding the key fob tips! i went to all the local craft stores, and even the hardware stores and couldn’t find them anywhere! i ended up buying a set of them online from an Etsy seller. (though i have to say was a little annoyed because it took OVER 2 weeks to get them! i had ordered something else from a different seller the very same time and it was being shipped from Hong Kong, and i got that order within a week! i don’t know why this one took so long or whether or not that’s a usual thing to expect from Etsy sellers? i could understand if i was buying something custom made, but it was hardware…) anyways…

i essentially made these just like i had the dog leashes a while back. i got some nice brown cotton webbing and cut it 7 inches. i also cut a coordinating ribbon 7 inches, and all you have to do is line it up in the middle and sew! when i folded them together, before i installed the key fob tip, i put a little of the Fray Check stuff on the ends of them just in case. then i used pliers to close the key fob tips in place, and voila, they were done! very super easy to make!

Hey - I know that http://www.jcarolinecreative.com had that hardware at one time (I haven’t checked recently) and they are very resonable with their pricing and their shiopping is always very fast.

Just thought I’d let you know!

And no, I don’t think that slow shipping to to be expected when ordering from Etsy. It must have just been that seller because I order stuff all the time and get it pretty quickly.=)
