Applique T-shirts

the one really good thing about not working in an office setting is i don’t have to spend money on work clothes! my old job had a no jeans policy, which kind of stunk because you can still look professional (in my opinion) in jeans if you do it right! but oh well…since i’m working from home, my attire is for the most part very casual. it’s great when i can just be around the house in my yoga pants and tank! most of the time when i run out for errands i’m always wearing jeans, ballet flats and a cute top or light sweater. i was at target the other day and found t-shirts on sale for $5! you can never have enough plain tees and i decided to grab a few to add to my spring wardrobe! i used some remnant fabric that i had to cut out different shapes and used heat-bond to iron it on to the tee to hold its place, then went around the edges of the shapes with a decorative stitch. this definitely brightens up a simple tee!

my favorite top is the one i made for a friend of mine for Easter (that picture will be up later this week, once she receives it! all other t-shirt pictures are in the march gallery). it’s just a white tee, with a bird on a tree branch design. i’ve also made another bird on tree design for myself. it was my very first shirt i tried, and i think the design was a little smaller than i would have liked because trying to sew around the small corners and edges was very difficult. plus the fact that i’ve never really sewed on a jersey cotton material before, and that in itself can get tricky! oddly enough, out of all the shirts i’ve made, my husband likes that one the best! i think it’s because its on a green shirt, and he’s so used to seeing me wear blue, pink, or white! these were a lot of fun to make, so i think everytime i see some cheapie tees on sale, i will definitely grab a few to make more! i’ve already gotten requests from family to have shirts done for them! so more to add to my to do list!
