The Ultimate Blog Party!
i came across another blog and saw some postings for the Ultimate Blog Party! sounded like fun, especially since i am so new to blogging! sooooo…welcome to my party!
if you came from 5 Minutes for Mom here’s a little about myself: i am a 27 year old stay at home wife. born and raised in the Washington, D.C area. i actually work part time, but work from home, and now i don’t come home grumpy, so everyone is happy! i worked in early childhood for nearly 8 years as an infant room teacher/team lead, and finally became director of administration in the last center i worked at. after a year of what i thought was bigger and better things, i left when work became less of a passion and more of a headache! i am newly married and although have no kids yet, i have two nephews, 6 & 2 1/2, and a 1 month old niece. i looooove those kiddies like they were my own…my husband will probably tell you i coddle them to much! but until he lets me have one of my own he can’t say too much! actually what he would say whenever baby talk comes up is that we already have two boys- our cat, Kanoa, and new puppy, Kiko. not quite the same!
i started this blog when hubby got me a new sewing machine for Christmas. i was spending day after day researching patterns and projects and realized i was having way too much fun, so the blog was a great way to reach out to other crafters and post new projects of my own. i also really enjoy cooking, so i hope you’ll enjoy some of the recipes on my site! i try to keep it simple for all the non-cookers out there!
here’s a little something for the party! (my hubby ate all the Tag-A-Long Girlscout cookies- which of course triggered a chocolate and peanut butter craving) this recipe comes from my friend Hannah!
PEANUT BUTTER BLOSSOMS
48 Hershey Kisses
1/2 cup shortening
3/4 cup peanut butter
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup packed light brown sugar
1 egg
2 tbsp milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
granulated sugar
* heat oven to 375 degrees. remove wrappers from Kisses
* beat shortening and peanut butter in a large bowl until well blended. add 1/3 cup granulated sugar and brown sugar; beat until fluffy. add egg, milk, and vanilla; beat well. stir together flour, baking soda, and salt; gradually beat into peanut butter mixture
* shape dough into 1-inch balls. roll in granulated sugar; place on ungreased cookie sheet
* bake 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned. immediately press a chocolate into center of each cookie. remove from cookie sheet to wire rack and cool completely.
