Shrinky Dinks

March 10th, 2008 by natalie

i never used Shrinky Dinks as a child, and when i came across another post that used them to make little key tags i thought they were super cute. thought it would be a great idea to put my little logo on it so that i could use as a tag for any of the projects i would be giving away as gifts! i was able to find Shrinky Dinks for Inkjet Printers at the local Michaels store. a package of 10 sheets cost $10, so it wasn’t a bad deal at all! since i’d never used Shrinky Dinks before i didn’t know how much smaller they’d get….well, they shrunk up way smaller than i intended, and after several attempts and a whole sheet later, the outcome still turned out really cute! the problem i had for some reason was that the first couple that i did, as soon as i pulled them out of the oven, the ends would curl up and before i could even flatten them they were already molded into that curled shape! very frustrating! but it only happened a few times and now i have the hang of it so i’ll be making many more!

i just put one on the purse i’m giving to Mitzi…gonna see her today so i can’t wait to see how she likes it! :)

Wow, I didn’t realize that shrinky dinks are available as ink jet sheets too. You’ve just made my day with that bit of information. I’ll have to get some and try it out. :-)

    Cheers!

[...] i finally figured out what to do with the rest of the fabrics from ikea! since i had so much of that black print and had such a hard time trying to figure out what bags to make with it, i decided to make reusable shopping totes out of the remaining fabric! i also made some little key chains to hang on the straps that say, “reuse, reduce, recyle” out of the printable shrinky dinks.
